“My path to project management in the construction industry started in 2004 while working for a cabinetmaker in Auckland. I really enjoyed the variety of work, from developing CAD layouts to managing internal fitout projects. That experience armed me with the knowledge and confidence to take on project management for the redevelopment of my hospitality property and to then complete a 2-year Graduate Diploma in Project Management. I love that the work I do now with Scope allows me to have impact on enhancing our Te Tai Tokerau Northland community.”
Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from a wide range of industries to her role as Project Manager. Her project experience runs the gamut from planning and scoping to the completion of internal and external refurbishment and re-configuration works. She is experienced in detailed, high-value procurement evaluations and delivery processes, and her strong financial and project-related technical competencies complement her customer relationship management skills and construction industry experience.
Karen’s attention to detail, astute planning skills, and clear communication style help her to deliver successful construction projects for clients across both the public and private sector. With Scope, she has managed a variety of construction and refurbishment projects for the Ministry of Education and other commercial organisations in Te Tai Tokerau Northland.
A Whangārei resident since 2005, Karen enjoys leading and contributing to projects that enhance the lives of local Northlanders, both in the development of improved facilities for the community and in the generation of employment opportunities within the local construction industry.
