“Working with a client in the very early stages of their dream project is always exciting, especially if that dream project becomes a reality. I’ve been at Scope since 2014, and in that time as an Assistant Project Manager, I’ve seen us overcome some very tricky hurdles to get our projects from the early stages of planning through to construction. Simply, getting projects across the line is what we do at Scope. It’s incredibly rewarding for both me and our Team when we’ve successfully completed a project and have a very happy client to show for it.”

As an Assistant Project Manager, Marilyn has a knack for the people side of Project Management. She appreciates the initial stage of projects, where getting an understanding of client and stakeholder needs and wants is critical to delivering a project that meets their requirements. Marilyn takes great care in understanding the best approach to collaborating with each client, employing our processes, and driving the team to meet programme. She is responsible for project set-up, document control, coordinating claims, and maintaining a good working relationship with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Detail oriented with an in-depth understanding of construction processes, Marilyn is experienced in project administration and has worked in various sectors of the industry. She started her career in London, working for a major fit-out company and a London architecture practice that focused on high-end and prestigious clients. At Scope since 2014, Marilyn has worked on a range of projects across industries in Te Tai Tokerau Northland. Her most recent achievements include the Te Ora Hou Community Facility and Mokau Marae Rebuild, both awarded excellence at the 2021 NZIOB Awards, and the Whangārei Salvation Army redevelopment project.

Marilyn has taken on another role within the business in 2021/2022 as Acting Business Manager whilst our Business Manager, Emma Lucas, is on maternity leave. Juggling both her business management and project management roles, Marilyn is enjoying the new opportunities and challenges in her growing role at Scope.
