Project description
We knew this project was special as it would have an impact on many young people in the community.

“It was a privilege to project manage the construction of the award winning Te Ora Hou Communuty Facility in Whangarei. Built for Te Ora Hou Northland Inc, the project was initiated by the client as they sought purpose built facilities to run their youth programmes. We knew this project was special as it would have an impact on many young people in the community. The highlight of the project was seeing the end users enjoy the facilities as they were intended. A strong team environment was created on this project and lead to good outcomes for our client.”

The Te Ora Hou project was a $6m project that was built for $4m. Collaboration between the project participants and the desire to go above and beyond for the client let the team to constantly make best for project decisions. The facility compromises significant office space, a large conference space, an extensive multi-use recreational space and appropriate car parking. The project was funded largely by external funding sources who have all seen their funding go into a worth while community investment.

The Scope team managed the design build contract, working closely with Hillcon Group, Robinson Asphalt and Base Group. We conducted early contractor involvement, then managed the project through the various staged phases to completion. The project was awarded in 2021 with the NZIOB Excellence Award for Interdisciplinary Collaboration.
